A Knoxville man has been indicted in the death of a Powell woman who was found dead in Roane County.
According to Roane Co. Sheriff Jack Stockton, a Roane County grand jury indicted Shawn Smoot on first degree murder charges. Brooke Nicole Morris, 23, was found shot to death in October 2011.
Sheriff Stockton said Smoot is not currently in Tennessee, but he has made arrangements to turn himself in. He also has an attorney.
Morris had a "no contact order of protection" against Smoot.
According to those documents, Morris had worked for Smoot at his insurance office, and she claimed in the order of protection that they had an affair.
She told the court that Smoot had stalked and physically abused her, and even broke into her home between November 2010 and January 2011.
