Matt and Josh Romney (l-r), sons of Republican US presidential candidate Mitt Romney
By Catalina Camia, USA TODAY
Mitt Romney is a merry prankster.
So say his five sons -- Tagg,
Matt, Josh, Ben and Craig -- who appeared together last night on Conan
O'Brien's show. It was billed as the first joint interview of the Romney
Boys, as they're sometimes called in the news media, who are a frequent
presence on the campaign trail.
The presumptive GOP presidential
nominee apparently likes to sing "Taco Burrito! What's coming out of
your Speedo!" from the Will Ferrell-Cheri Oteri skit on Saturday Night Live.
Tagg explained that his dad once wrote out "H-E" and "L-P" on the
bottom of the shoes of a friend who was getting married, so that the
word "help" appeared when the man knelt down at his wedding.
But
the priceless moment came when Matt told the story of how he got his
father -- and good -- during the 2008 campaign by pretending to be
Arnold Schwarzenegger on the telephone. At the time, Romney was trying
to get the then-California governor's endorsement.
O'Brien
showed a video of the prank, in which Matt (using a device that helped
him sound like Schwarzenegger) asked Romney: "Who's your daddy? And what
does he do?"
After the appearance by the five Romney sons,
O'Brien had some fun of his own and made a reference to the family's
wealth in a tweet to the candidate:
"Had your sons on #Conan tonight. After they left, I found $20,000 in the couch cushions."
