The New Market Volunteer Fire Department is throwing a party. This weekend is the 8th annual Summerfest.
There is music, shops, inflatables for the kids, and plenty of food.
The public can also get an up close look at the equipment volunteers use to keep their community safe, and while Summerfest is all about fun, it's also important for another reason: it's one of the main fundraisers for the department.
"We are strictly volunteer; nobody gets paid. This helps fund the fire department throughout the year, for diesel, for the trucks, insurance, just a lot of stuff for the fire department to operate," said Sammy Solomon.
Summerfest continues Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight at the New Market Roadside Park on 11E.
