A Manchester, Kentucky man is in jail after police say he robbed a Middlesboro bank Friday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Middlesboro Police Department, a man walked into the First State Bank about 2 pm and handed one of the tellers a note demanding money.  The note also indicated he had a gun.  When the teller opened the cash drawer, the man reached across the counter and took bills from the drawer.  He then left the bank in a blue Ford pickup truck.

About an hour later a truck matching the description of the getaway vehicle was stopped on Highway 25E about 2 miles north of town.  Police say there was evidence in the truck linking the driver to the robbery and he was taken into custody.  Officers recovered cash, clothing matching the robber's description and merchandise purchased between the time of the robbery and the traffic stop.  The note was recovered in a business trash can near the bank.

Middlesboro Police have charged 30 year old Gregory Jackson with 1st Degree Robbery.  He also had several outstanding warrants in Laurel, Knox and Clay Counties.  Police say most of those warrants are on theft charges.

Jackson is being held without in the Bell County Detention Facility.  He has an arraignment scheduled for Monday.
