The 10th Annual KARM Dragon Boat Festival filled the waters at Concord park with colorful boats.
The event, puts teams of 20 paddlers, a drummer and a steerer in the water to race in authentic Hong Kong-style Dragon Boats. In all, 58 teams participated in the event which benefits Knox Area Rescue Ministries help those in our community.
"Our focus with Dragon Boats this year is to try and generate the resources to provide one hundred thousand meals," says Burt Rosen, KARM President. "And at $1.87 a meal you can do the math and see where that ends up and all of these folks that you see in the boats paddling and drumming are folks that have gone out and raise the support to help us meet this year's goal."
In 2011, teams raised $114,000 for Knox Area Rescue Ministries.
