According to the records from the Grainger County Sheriff, deputies arrested a man they say tried to throw a light bulb containing drugs into a recreation field of the jail and the woman who drove him there.

In an arrest report, deputies say they saw Brandon King, 29, of Rutledge try to throw a light bulb over a fence into the recreation yard Tuesday afternoon at the Grainger County Jail. The lightbulb contained a sublingual strip of the narcotic suboxone and several pieces of a unidentified pill.

Deputies say King walked away from the fence and ran after deputies called to him.  The deputies caught up with King in a gully where he was trying to hide and arrested him.

He was then booked at the jail.  King is charged with resisting a stop halt search, criminal trespassing, evading arrest, and introduction of contraband into a penal institution.

While deputies were chasing after King, one noticed a woman driving  nearby in a black SUV at a high rate of speed.  When the deputy pulled her over, Deanna Dawn Mullins, 33, of Rutledge told him he was visiting her husband who was in jail.  She denied knowing King.  Deputies say, however, she later admitted to driving King to the jail.

She was also arrested and taken to the Grainger County Jail.

Mullins is charged with driving on a suspended license and introducing contraband into a penal facility.
