Here is more on Tennessee swimmers at the Trials from the University:
Tennessee rising senior Kelsey Floyd reached her second final in the butterfly Thursday at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in Omaha, Neb.
Floyd recorded the fifth-fastest time of 2 minutes, 9.02 seconds, in the 200-meter butterfly in the evening semifinals to qualify for Friday's evening final. Like every race, the top two finishers will represent the United States at the Olympics.
Swimming in her second career Olympic Trials, Floyd has been a contender in her two signature races. She was fourth in the 100 butterfly finals on Tuesday and is the first Lady Vol this week to reach the finals in two races.
Floyd was one of three UT swimmers in the 200 butterfly preliminaries. She swam the third-best time in the opening round, touching the wall in 2:09.02. Kennedy Higdon was 96th in 2:18.94, and Brooke Watson was 98th in 2:19.01.
Two Vols swam during the preliminary session. Former SEC champion Brad Craig was 31st in the 200 breaststroke in 2:16.22, and rising junior Samuel Rairden was 26th in the 100 freestyle in 50.03.
