Thanks to your donations, those out on the streets during this heat wave can cool down.

Knox Area Rescue Ministries asked for community help Friday with bottled water donations.

The organization has been flying its white flag all day, welcoming people to come in and cool off.

KARM didn't have enough water for those folks coming in, and asked for help.

By Friday night, they had an abundance of water that should last several weeks.

KARM says it got all the help earlier than expected this year.

"It's gotten hotter more quickly this summer than anticipated. We usually don't need to put out this call until later in the summer," said Sue Renfro.

While there's a big stock pile now, KARM asks you to remember them in the coming weeks and months, as it only gets hotter.

Knox Area Rescue Ministries is asking the community for help.

Because of the extremely hot temperatures, KARM is requesting that people to donate bottled water to help the area's homeless beat the heat.

You can drop off the water at the main KARM location parking lot at 418 N. Broadway.  Staff and volunteers will assist in unloading.

For more information, you can email info@karm.org or call 673-6540.

KARM continues to post its "White Flag" on the front gate, notifying those on the streets of extreme temperatures. The flag stresses to drink plenty of water, stay in the shade, wear loose, light colored, clothing, and take rest breaks.
