Humans aren't the only ones who fight to stay cool when the temperatures rise.

Knoxville Zoo keepers are using fans, air conditioners, and misters to prevent the heat from affecting their animals.

Some, like the chimps, even get popsicles to cool down.

Zoo keepers say different methods work best with different animals, but it's important to keep the heat at bay.

"Well, just like a person they can get overheated, I mean they can even get heat stroke or something like that, so we have to make sure they stay cooled off.  In here we'll actually open the dens where it's air conditioned so they can have access to air conditioning. In areas where we don't have air conditioning we provide fans and misters and things like that," said Leigh Rickey, Lead Keeper of Great Apes

Zoo visitors can also take advantage of the zoo's many misting stations and the new splash pad, to help beat the heat.
