Firefighter Michael Robinson displays his HeatSeeker invention on a Rural Metro truck
The Blount County Fire Department got a much needed break from the heat Friday in the form of a donation.
Rural Metro's Michael Robinson invented the "heatseeker", a misting cap that can be attached to trucks and hydrants to allow firefighters to cool off.
He's been making rounds, donating these to many local fire stations, including Friday in Blount County.
Robinson says the heatseeker will help save many firefighters' lives by helping them rehab after fighting fires.
"If we don't rehab, we're gonna go back in and start having loss of focus. We're gonna have mistakes. We're gonna have these types of issues that start a domino effect that could led to a heart attack, and that's our number one killer. This product is going to cool these firefighters and them them a better rehab," said Robinson.
Robinson says he's taken orders for his new invention as far away as Qatar.
