One I-40 eastbound lane remains closed after semi accident

One eastbound lane of I-40 remains closed while crews clean up following a semi truck accident.  Authorities hope to have that lane reopened by Noon Tuesday.

One eastbound lane of I-40 is now re-opened after a semi broke in half Monday evening.

Interstate 40 eastbound is currently shut down in Roane County.

Officials say an accident involving a tractor trailer hauling paper occurred around 8 p.m. at mile marker 341 when the semi broke in half. The cab of the semi caught fire.

Traffic is currently being diverted at milemarker 338.

Westbound traffic is not affected, and police say it will be at least 10:30 p.m. before the eastbound lanes reopen.

There are no reports of injuries.
