A Farragut woman is celebrating a milestone many will never live to see. Lorena Harvey celebrated her 104th birthday Thursday.

Summit View Senior Home where she lives threw her a special birthday party to mark the event.

Harvey was born in Concord and taught school in Knox County for 30 years.

Her first teaching job was at Browder Elementary School in a classroom that held children from first to eighth grade.

"I would take her shopping and she would go and stay all day that the shopping places when I was working. I would taker her when I went to work and pick her up as I came back, and she would just go to Burlington and those places and shop and shop. She loved it," said her caretaker, Gena Windle.

Last year, Harvey was honored as part of Tennessee Health Care Association's "Who's Who in Tennessee Nursing Homes" program.
