Swimmers dove in for the 39th annual Smoky Mountain Invitational, Sunday.
While spectators dealt with the heat, competitors got some relief from the pool.
Organizers say more than 1,000 swimmers competed in the two day meet which attracts swimmer of all levels.
Organizers set up a misting station for anyone to use. They said they made sure all swimmers, fans, lifeguards, and coaches stayed cool and rested.
In total, they say the invitational brought nearly 5,000 people to Alcoa.
