Knoxville Police say a man who was found dead in South Knoxville on Monday morning had been shot.
The body was discovered by workers behind an apartment building that was closed for renovations in Montgomery Village. It was not immediately clear how the man died, but an examination at the forensic center determined that the man died after being shot sometie in the last 24 to 36 hours.
The man has been identifed as Robert Junior Reed, 28, who lived on Martin Mill Pike in South Knoxville.
The case is now being treated as a homicide. Investigators are interviewing witnesses and examining evidence found at the scene.
