Early voting for the August election begins on Friday for Knox County.
Election Day is August 2, and some voters who vote then may notice a change when they head to the polls.
The 16th precinct polls have been combined into a joint location at the Larry Cox Senior Center.
Part of the precinct used to vote at Belle Morris Elementary School, but the election office received several complaints that the school isn't handicapped accessible.
The election administrator went out to the site and agreed.
The election office will watch the August election closely to see if crowding is an issue, then determine if the arrangement will continue moving forward.
"We'll look at how it performs, we'll talk to officers, we'll talk to our election officers that are there on the site on August 2nd, and after we get input from them, we'll decide if there'll be any recommendation for a change. But we're not going to go back to that school, because it's just not fair to the citizens who are disabled to get in and out of that building. It's simply not going to work," said Clifford Rodgers, Knox Co. election administrator.
Starting with the upcoming election, any voters age 60 and older can vote absentee by mail.
