The Knox County School Board heard some legal feedback about its budget Wednesday night.

Last month, the county commission approved $7 million out of the additional $35 million the school system requested.

At Monday's work session, the school board wanted to know if that money was a one-time grant or if it recurred annually.

After receiving guidance from an outside lawyer, the school board believes that only $1.5 million will recur annually.

However, the deputy law director does not believe that will ever come into play.

"If we simply achieve enough revenue growth that there's more funding in the fiscal year 13-14 budget as there is in this budget that just got approved, it's really a moot point," said Deputy Law Director David Sanders.

The board voted to approve the budget for fiscal year 2013. They also appointed four members to the new Basic Education Program Taskforce.
