Officials at UT have given the green light to some green technology, that's all about safety and convenience for students.
The company Solar Secure announced the installation of it's first project on the Hill on UT campus on Thursday. It's a solar powered emergency assistance and security station with wi-fi connectivity and video surveillance.
Product managers with the company say using solar power is easier than many people think.
"We're actually based in Seattle, and one of the interesting things is that people think that solar won't necessarily work everywhere. But Seattle is one of the rainiest cities in the US, and they have been tested and year-round they work no matter what," said Collette Duck, Product Manager of Solar Secure.
Solar Secure is installing one security station right now, and officials say they hope to install more in the future.
