Shelley King with The Vespers will perform on the WDVX Blue Plate Special. The free broadcast begins at noon at the Knoxville Visitor Center.
The Vespers with The Beat 64 will perform at The Shed at Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson. The concert is is part of the "Free Concert Friday". Music should get going at 6 pm.
The Knoxville Museum of Art continues its "Alive After Five" series with The Brad Walker Orchestra. General admission is $10. "Alive After Five" runs from 6 to 8:30 pm.
The 2012 Sunset Music Series continues with J. C. & The Dirty Smokers at the Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center. Admission is $5 per person for the 7 pm show.

Get up close and personal with some of Ijams' furred and feathered animal ambassadors. You won't want to miss this unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of our animal care program. You'll get to see how they feed and care for the animals, and you may even have the chance to get nose-to-beak or toe-to-tail with some of their wildlife friends. Blind Corn Liquor Pickers with The Honeycutters will perform on the Saturday edition of the WDVX Blue Plate Special. You can be entertained at the Knoxville Visitor Center for free at noon.
The Obed Wild and Scenic River announces its fifth annual Climbing Expedition. Beginning climbers and people who wish to learn about the sport of rock climbing are encouraged to attend. No reservations are necessary. Kids (age 10 and up) and adults are welcomed to participate. This free event will run from 1 to 3 pm. All equipment will be provided. The event will take place at the Lilly Bridge Climbing Area, just off of Ridge Road. Please arrive early to get fitted for harnesses, helmets, and climbing shoes. Union Avenue Books presents poet and professor Jesse Graves, author of Tennessee Landscape with Blighted Pine. Graves will read from and sign his first collection of poems. Events are planned to get started at 3 pm.
