A deer crashed into an East Tennessee nursing home Friday.

The deer slammed through a window at the Upland and Fletcher Retirement Home in Crossville, then ran around the dining room, and eventually went out through another window.

The deer caused about $500 in damage, and the retirement home had to replace both windows.

Two maintenance workers saw the whole thing happen.

"The deer was just jumping the bushes right there and he was bearing down horns and his head down, and were just trying to get out of his way, and I went diving that way and Frank went diving this way, and just barely missed us and right through the window he went, about two leaps and out the back window," said Russell Warner.

The adventure didn't end well for the deer. It broke its leg when it crashed through that second window, and TWRA officials had to put it down.

Nobody at the home was hurt.

Workers say this isn't the first animal they've seen venture inside. A squirrel, and even a cow, have walked into the building.
