A Hawkins County man was killed in a motorcycle crash this weekend, but a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper says the proper helmet could possibly have saved his life.

The one-vehicle crash happened just before 1:30 p.m. Saturday on U.S. Highway 11W in Rogersville, according to a THP report.

Johnny Cinnamon, 34, of Rogersville, was traveling southbound on Highway 11W when he went off the right side of the road and struck a concrete wall.

According to the report, Cinnamon was not wearing a Dept. of Transportation-compliant helmet, and "it is the trooper's opinion that this was a contributing factor."
