Prosecutors seeking death penalty in Cocke Co. triple homicide

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for a man and woman from Cocke County in the death of a couple and their son.

Adam Edwards was appointed two attorneys Monday morning.  Lawyers for Martha Shelton will appointed on Tuesday.

They are facing a long list of charges including three counts each for first degree murder.  Charges also include: one count of arson, two counts of aggravated robbery, one count of kidnapping, and one count of child abuse.

Edwards and Shelton were indicted on June 19th by a Cocke County grand jury.

The couple was taken into custody for violation of probation charges shorty after the bodies of Sherman Ellison, 34, and Terri Henderson, 39, and their son, Riley, 2, were discovered in the remains of their burned-out mobile home.  That fire happened on  May 26 in the Grassy Forks community of Cocke County.
