Lenoir City leaders say they won't change the patch on their police officers' uniforms.
In March, the Freedom from Religion Foundation sent a letter to the Lenoir City Police Department arguing that the patch is unconstitutional, because it promotes religion.
The patch contains the words industry, religion, and education.
City leaders say they've received about four letters from the organization.
Mayor Tony Aikens said at a City Council meeting that the city will hold its stance and not remove the word religion from the patches. He directed the city attorney to respond to the foundation.
