Previous Story:

Two suspects are in custody after an armed robbery at a south Knoxville restaurant.

The robbery happened a little after 4:30 p.m. at the Arby's in the 2800 block of Chapman Highway.

The manager told officers that a man came to the front cash register, pointed a gun at the employee and demanded money.

The suspect took the money and ran southbound on Chapman Highway, where witnesses saw him get into a small, dark blue car.

After speaking with the manager, employees and other witnesses, officers sent out the suspect's description via radio to other officers.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office helicopter also assisted in the search for the suspect vehicle.

About 20 minutes after the robbery, a KPD officer spotted two men and a dark blue car that matched the description at the Walgreens store in the 2500 block of E. Magnolia Avenue.

When the officer turned around to return to the store to investigate, he saw the two men run into the next parking lot and try to get a ride from someone.

Officers took both men into custody. The manager and an employee at the Arby's identified one of the men as the suspect who robbed the store.

A woman who was with the men at the Walgreens was also taken into custody.

Officers recovered a black handgun and black ball cap from the back of the suspects' car.

Authorities have not yet released the suspects' names. The investigation is ongoing.
