A scare at a South Knoxville Wal-Mart turned out to be a prank.

According to Knoxville Police, officers were sent to the store at 7420 Chapman Highway around 12:41 Tuesday afternoon, to investigate a possible child abduction.

Investigators say a man called the store operator from a phone inside the store, identified himself as a store employee, and said that two parents were missing their child.  The caller said the the 1-year-old girl had been in a pink picnic basket in a shopping cart and had gone missing.

Wal-Mart employees locked down the store and called 911, then began a search for the child.

Investigators eventually determined that the call was a prank and that there was no child in danger.
