A man is behind bars in the Sevier County Jail after police say he went on a carjacking spree that spanned two counties.
According to a KPD spokesperson, around 4:40 a.m Wednesday., the suspect approached Javier Castillo of Charlotte, NC while Castillo was filling his car with gas at the Shell station on the 5400 block of Asheville Highway.
Police say the suspect asked for a bumper jack then pulled a handgun on Castillo ordering the victim's mother out of the Honda Fit.
The suspect then drove the Honda Fit to Sevier County where police say he wrecked it. Authorities also say he robbed a Good Samaritan who stopped to help. Sevier County authorities say the suspect shot at the Good Samaritan causing him to fall and injure himself.
After stealing his truck, the suspect then wrecked the Good Samaritan's vehicle and fled on foot.
Jefferson County deputies later located the suspect in the bed of a truck during a traffic stop.
Police say the Good Samaritan positively identified the suspect as the man who robbed and shot at him.
Police have identified the suspect as 19-year-old Farris Jay Dobbins.
