Investigators with the Knoxville Police are attempting to identify a suspect they say pulled a knife on a man while trying to take his wallet early Friday morning.

According to a press release, just before 4:00 a.m. police discovered a man in the Old City who had cuts to his right side and right thigh.

Police say 54-year-old Jamie Biggs of Knoxville told them he was assaulted behind Marie's Old Towne Tavern on the 200 block of W. Magnolia Avenue.

Biggs told police he was sitting with the suspect, who he knew,  behind the bar.  Biggs says the suspect pulled a knife demanding his wallet.  Biggs resisted and said he was cut in the process.

Police say Biggs was intoxicated and uncooperative at the scene.

Biggs was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police are attempting to locate a scene and witnesses.
