A nonprofit organization that helps the homeless is celebrating the opening of its 10th thrift store in East Tennessee.

Knox Area Rescue Ministries opened a new thrift store in Morristown Friday morning.

The thrift stores sell donated items and the money goes to the organization.  The stores also provide jobs for graduating clients.
KARM's president says the ministry has received clients from Morristown. and they wanted to expand their reach in that community.

"When there has been a lack of resources, not suggesting that there are none, but when there has been a lack and someone has someone either because of drug-related issues or just homelessness with no where else to place them, KARM would be the place that they have called. So as we were looking at where we might expand stores, we wanted to be in areas where KARM is already a benefit to that community in some way and then expand that benefit with what we do here in the stores," said Burt Rosen, President of Knox Area Rescue Ministries.

As part of the grand opening celebration, NASCAR driver Trevor Bayne's "We Back Pat" car was at the store.  A portion of the race car sponsorships will be donated to KARM through August first.
