The Lenoir City Utility Board is scheduled to announce a rate decrease for it's customers this afternoon.
According to general manager Shannon Littleton, all customers will see a slight decrease, likely only adding up to a few dollars a year.
But he said the board's pledge not to raise rates for the next five years should be good news for customers.
Littleton said there could also be more rate reductions coming next year.
"Hopefully it's going to start adding up," said Littleton.
He said the board retired some of their $20 million debt, which is part of the reason they can pass along savings to rate payers. Littleton says they also cut internal operating costs.
