A popular baseball snack was missing from the Smokies ball park Monday, but for a good cause. It was the first ever peanut-free night.

The goal is to allow baseball fans with peanut allergies to attend the game worry-free, while at the same time raise awareness to an issue that affects around 1.5 million people across the country.

"The sporting events, especially baseball and football have a lot of peanuts, and a lot of accidental exposure to peanuts. It's a great venue to not only raise awareness and allow some of the families of those with peanut allergies to come and not have to worry at all," said Ty Prince with the Allergy, Asthma and Sinus Center.

The Allergy Center hopes to make it an annual event.
