A Knoxville teenager received life-threatening injuries when he was struck while trying to run across a busy West Knoxville road.

According to Knoxville Police spokesperson Darrell DeBusk, 19-year-old Thomas Sanders darted across Papermill Drive near Papermill Pointe Way.

Police said Sanders was struck by a 1999 Buick Park Avenue, driven by 68-year-old Patricia Carmichael of Blaine.
