Three people have been arrested after children and adults were found in the back of a locked U-Haul truck.
The Knox County Sheriff's Office says they pulled over the U-Haul truck after receiving a 911 call about two children being beaten and thrown in the back of the truck.
The truck was pulled over at the Walmart at Walker Springs just west of Watt Road around 1 p.m.
Officers say they found two children, a 6-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy in the back along with five adults, four males and one female. They say there was no ventilation.
The truck driver, 25-year-old Rocky Ewing has been charged with seven counts of reckless endangerment.
Officers say the parents of the children were in another vehicle and pulled over when the truck pulled over. They are 44-year-old Joshua Jackson and his 42-year-old wife Mary. They have both been charged with child endangerment.
Officials say there were conflicting stories, but the people all claim to be related. They say they were moving from Steubenville, Ohio to Ft. Myers, Florida.
The children are currently in the custody of their grandmother, who was riding in the back of the truck.
The Department of Children's Services has been notified.
