This story will be updated throughout the night, so keep checking back for updates!

12:20 pm.  Wrapping up for the night!  The biggest thing from tonight that we will be following tomorrow-- what does the Mayfield campaign feel is wrong with the results??

11:55 pm.  10News Nightbeat is coming up in just a few minutes, with all the latest on the election!  We've been hard at work adding video and interviews to our election section, including reaction from Chuck Fleischmann, Weston Wamp, the Anderson Co. mayor's race, and commentary from our political panel.

11:07 pm.  Scottie Mayfield says his campaign support team has advised him not to concede the election tonight, because they say "something isn't right."  Mayfield is leaving Maddie Mays in downtown Athens, where he and his supporters watched the returns.

10:41 pm.  Here's a statement from Weston Wamp: "I want to thank the thousands of people who voted for me today. What a rewarding experience it was to campaign for this office. I want to thank the people who supported me with their money and, especially, I want to thank the hundreds of volunteers who worked on my behalf. I wish the best to all of tonight's winners and will continue to be a voice for my generation as we move forward."

10:20 pm.  Seems like this election night wrapped up pretty early!!  All the results are in, though we're still working to get interviews in from the winners.  We'll have those on 10News Nightbeat and here at WBIR.com as soon as we get them.

10:20 pm.  Still waiting on Scottie Mayfield concession speech in Athens.

10:15 pm.  Greene County residents voted down a measure that would have doubled their wheel tax. The $20 increase lost on a vote of 6025 against, 4340 for.

9:55 pm.  Final Knox County numbers are in!  Roger Kane defeats Tim Hutchison in the 89th Dist. House race, with 42% of the vote.  The former Knox Co. Sheriff collected 28% of the vote.

9:51 pm.  The AP just called the 3rd Dist. Congressional race for incumbent Chuck Fleischmann, over Scotty Mayfield and Weston Wamp.

9:50 pm.
We're just minutes away from our 10:00 news on Fox 43.  We've got reporter Brittany Bailey in Chattanooga, getting reaction on the 3rd Dist. Congressional race.  That's where incumbent Chuck Fleischmann and Weston Wamp are watching the results.  Fleischman still leads in that race

9:28 pm. Anderson County has a new mayor.  Voters selected Terry Frank for the county's top job. She defeated Warren Gooch in Thursday night's election.  Frank got 7074 votes. Gooch collected 5032 votes.  Frank will fill the term of former mayor Rex Lynch, who resigned after pleading guilty to tax fraud.

9:20 pm.  A final from Blount County.  The Alcoa sales tax proposal passes, 1018 for, 267 against.

9:17 pm.  An update from Knox County, with 45% of the vote in:  Gary Loe with a commanding lead over Vanderbilt Brabson in the 13th Dist.  Loe has 74% of the vote.  The 89th Dist. is a close two candidate race.  Tim Hutchison has 33% of the vote, Roger Kane with 34%

9:00 pm.  Here's an update on a big issue in Alcoa.  With 21 of 35 precincts reporting, the measure to increase sales tax by .5% is leading 343 to 117.  The money will go towards building a new high school.

8:47 pm. AP declares Scott DesJarlais, GOP, nominated U.S. House, District 4.

8:37 pm.
Here's some more early results, in probably one of the most hotly contested races we're folling tonight.. for U. S. House District 3, incumbent Chuck Fleishmann (43%) is leading Scotty Mayfield (34%) and Weston Wamp (21%) with 1% of the votes are in.

8:32 pm.  I should note here, just in case I forget in later posts, that all of the Senate and House races are party primaries.  The winner from each party will advance to the November general election to face off.

8:30  pm.  Here's another one that was pretty much a foregone conclusion.  Longtime Congressman Jimmy Duncan has been declared the winner in District 2, according to AP.

8:16 pm.  The first results are in for Knox County.  These are early voting numbers.  In the 13th Dist. House race, Gary Loe has an early and commanding lead Vanderbilt Brabson, with 75% of the vote.  In another interesting race, former Knox Co. Sheriff Tim Hutchison is trailing fellow Republican Roger Kane in the 80th Dist. House race, though by less than 100 votes.

8:10 pm.  No big shock here!  AP is reporting that incumbent Bob Corker defeats 4 challengers to secure Republican nomination for US Senate.

8:00 pm.  Polls are closing across East Tennessee.  We'll be expecting early voting numbers from Knox County fairly quickly, as long as there are no problems.

We've got a full crew in covering all the big races tonight.  Robin Wilhoit and Beth Haynes are in the studio, and they'll be joined by our excellent political analysts:  Don Bosch, Mike Cohen, Susan Williams, Dennis Francis, and former Knox County Elections Administrator Greg Mackay.

We just had an excellent dinner from Buddy's BBQ, so we are ready to go!  Bring on the results!
