SMYRNA, Tenn. (AP) -- Two small children have been found dead in a driveway in Smyrna, Tenn., possible victims of heat stroke, and their mother has been charged in their deaths.
According to WSMV-TV 25-year-old Samantha Harper was charged Thursday night with two counts of especially aggravated child abuse.
Police said the bodies of the children, a boy and girl ages 2 and
3, were found on the ground near a vehicle in a circle driveway.
Investigators believe the children were left inside the car and died from the heat. It's not clear if someone discovered the children before police arrived and removed their bodies from the car.
The temperature was in the mid-90s at the time.
The station reported the children's father was not home at the time.
