TVA has agreed to pay a $175,000 fine after a tree grew too close to a powerline and caused a spark in Stevenson, Alabama in 2010.

TVA says the line went down, but there were no power outages.

Spokesman Travis Brickey says this incident is a perfect example of why TVA is cutting trees down along powerlines.

In April, TVA removed 60 trees at the Summit Medical Group office in West Knoxville.

The utility says it has to cut any tree that can grow 15 feet or higher near powerlines.
