A Cocke County family is suing their neighbors for $1.5 million in damages after their dog attacked their son.

Brandon Williams, 11, lost his ears and severely injured his right arm after his neighbors' pit bull attacked him back in 2011.  After the attack, Williams spend months at Shriner's Hospital while doctors worked to restore his hearing.

The Williams family filed the lawsuit this week. Their attorney said Williams will "continue to require special medical care for the rest of his life. . ." The lawsuit also claims Williams suffered "severe physical pain and disfigurement."

The dog's owners, Jennifer Switzer and Anthony Lugar, pleaded guilty in January to allowing an animal run at large, which, as a result, caused serious bodily injury. They both received two years of supervised probation for this crime.
