Road work is set to begin this week at the intersection of Emory Road and Andersonville Pike in Halls.
Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett said this project will improve traffic flow around the intersection. He said the road work will also increase safety and encourage economic development. .
Mayor Burchett and two county commissioners toured the North Knox County neighborhood today and discussed the need to make improvements.
Mayor Burchett said that people who live and work in this area have been asking for this project for some time.
"The neighbors have been very good to work with in Halls," Burchett said. "Halls is a great community. They're very tight knit and stick together. It's just another instance where they've come together on a project and the outcome has been great."
The road work in this area is expected to last over the next couple of weeks.
