According to the Knox County Sheriff's office, a 33-year woman was taken to UT Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries after a tree fell on her car Thursday night.

Just before 7:00 p.m., deputies got a call of the incident on Brown Gap Road.  KCSO identified the woman as Pam Shirley.

UT Medical Center treated and released her.

KCSO said Shirley was traveling east bound in her Ford Mustang when a rotted tree fell through her windshield.

Knox County's Highway Maintenence Division is looking into whether the tree was located on private property or the county's rightaway.

There are no recorded complaints to the county about the tree.
