Family members tell 10News Russel Blevins was found dead Sunday in his Kingston home.
Blevins was found dead Sunday in his home in Kingston.
"Can't imagine why anyone would do that - to an older person, who loved people like he did," Steve Blevins said, more than 24 hours since he discovered his grandfather, Russel, dead from gunshot wounds.
"He was older, he was feeble... but he was getting around good," he added, describing the 85-year-old widower, who lived in a secluded home off Hart Orchard Road in Kingston.
Roane County Sheriff's deputies and TBI have been called to investigate the homicide. So far, no arrests have been made, and cannot determine a motive.
"I'm a little concerned that I'm living next door to a crime scene and need a lot of security over what might happen in the future," Blevins' neighbor, Wayne Pope said, citing concern that no one was caught yet.
"I didn't know anything that would be wrong with him. He was older, he was feeble... but he was getting around good," his grandson said. "He was doing really well, and why anyone would go in and take his life, I don't know why they would do that."
Steve Blevins added he does not have an idea on who the perpetrator is. He wanted to send a message to anyone that can help his family during this emotional time.
"If you all help me pray that God will reveal who it was to the detectives so they can catch this person," he said.
