A man accused of shooting his wife during an argument, then leading police on a six-hour standoff, has been arrested, the Grainger County sheriff said.
Samuel Thompson, 44, is accused of shooting his wife in the face as she fled their home on Roach Rd. in Rutledge on Saturday, according to Sheriff Scott Layel.
Thompson barricaded himself in the home, refused to negotiate with officers, and fired at least 15 rounds within the home using two guns, Layel said.
Six hours after the standoff began, officers raided the home and arrested Thompson. He was jailed in the Grainger County Detention Center under a $4,600 bond.
He is charged with domestic assault and aggravated domestic assault with a firearm.
The name and condition of Thompson's wife was not released.
