Fatal accident on Hwy. 411 between Maryville and Greenback.
The Blount County School District confirms Amelia Keown attended William Blount High School. Keown was in the 11th grade and a member of the school's dance team.
Additional counselors are at William Blount Wednesday providing support to students and faculty. Chaplains with the Blount County Sheriff's Office are also at the school.

According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report, a 44-year-old man from Maryville died Wednesday morning from injuries he sustained during an accident that happened Tuesday afternoon.
John C. Perkins of Maryville was driving a 1999 Sebring convertible on Highway 411 when it crossed the center line striking another car head-on killing a teen.
THP officials have released the name of a teen killed in a crash on Highway 411 in Blount County.
It happened at 3:45 on Highway 411, south of Binfield Road.
THP says 16 year old Amelia Garton, known as Amelia Keown, was pronounced dead on the scene.
John Perkins, 45, of Maryville was critically injured in the accident.
According to THP, Perkins was driving his 1999 Chrysler Sebring convertible northbound on Highway 411. He crossed the center turning lane and traveled into oncoming traffic.
That is when he struck Garton's vehicle head-on.
The highway was shut down until around 7 p.m. Police are working to recreate the scene.
THP is awaiting the results of the toxicology report and charges are pending.
One person has been killed in a crash on Highway 411 in Blount County.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the wreck happened around 3:45 pm Tuesday afternoon, just north of Springview Road, between Maryville and Greenback.
Two vehicles were involved in the accident. There's no word on any other injuries.
411 was shut down while the accident was cleared and investigated.
Troopers are still working to reconstruct the crash so they'll know exactly what caused it.
Authorities are not ready to release any information on the person who died.
