Knox County welcomes students back to school with an event at the Knoxville Expo Center that offers everything from educational tools to health & fitness.
On stage, there were various interactive performances and presentations geared toward students.
Several local vendors also participated, giving students and parents information about health, fitness and recreation.
At the bash, students also picked up free school supplies to start the year off right.
Mayor Tim Burchett says the turnout was better than expected.
"We talked to folks who said if you have 250 plus people, you have to call it a success. We had over 2,000 people here when I got here a little bit before three. People lined up at noon to get in," he said.
Burchett says he hopes to make next year's event bigger and better.
