A federal judge has struck down Kentucky's ban on grocery stores, gas stations and other retailers selling wine and liquor.

The judge says not allowing some stores to get wine and liquor licenses but granting them to others is a violation of the constitution, but you won't see wine in grocery stores anytime soon.

The judge stopped enforcement of the ruling while other related issues are resolved.

Wine and liquor sales are also illegal inside Tennessee grocery stores, and that means some new Knoxville retailers like Costco and Trader Joe's won't have the wine selection they're known for.

Some advocates are hoping the new stores will help change Tennessee's law, but a measure to approve wine in grocery stores has stalled in the legislature for several years.
