Local rockers The Dirty Guv'nahs took a break from touring to celebrate the release of their newest album.
"Somewhere Beneath the Southern Skies" dropped Tuesday, and to promote the CD, the Guvs played a few songs at the Disc Exchange.
"Skies" was completely fan-funded, and because of that, the band wanted to thank their supporters the best way they knew how, by playing some free tunes.
"We just wanted to do a big thank-you to the city of Knoxville. That's why we're doing all these free shows is we raised all the money for this new record through Kickstarter, and it was 65% funded by folks from East Tennessee. And so, we decided we'd do a free show in Knoxville as a thank you. It's the least we could do, since they supported our career," said James Trimble.
The Guvs will host one more free show in Knoxville before resuming their tour. It'll be this Friday at Market Square.
