Emergency crews have rescued a woman whose car plunged about 100 yards off the road and down the side of Chilhowee Mountain.
Blount County dispatchers say the crash happened around 4:30 pm Thursday on the Foothills Parkway, near the Hwy. 321 intersection.
Crews on the scene says the woman's injuries appear to be non-life threatening. She was taken to UT Medical Center by ambulance. She was unconscious when rescue crews got to her.
The National Park Service is investigating the accident. A spokesperson says it appears the woman's vehicle was stopped by vegetation, or it could have continued falling.
