At the age of 90, lifelong Maryville resident Jean Gregory has had a full and robust life.
However, this widow who resides in the Brookdale Senior Living Center had one wish: to meet her favorite band, the Gaither Vocal Band.
"They just fille me up with the spirit... I really enjoy all of them singing," Ms. Gregory said.
As part of the program Wish of a Lifetime, who helps senior citizens with wishes, she got to see the popular Bill Gaither and the quartet of gospel singers Thursday night at the Tennessee Theatre.
"We can submit wishes. If we have a resident, someone in our community that we want to do something special for and find an interest they have, we can submit this wish," said Bobbie Fling with Brookdale Senior Living, Gregory's nursing home.
The Gaither Vocal Band was playing a benefit concert that evening for Alzheimer's Tennessee, raising money for families and research. The sold out concert managed to save a few seats for Gregory and her granddaughter.
"It's wonderful, especially with Bill. He's my date tonight," Ms. Gregory smiled.
She said hearing the music brings memories she had with her late husband.
"I never dreamed when I asked for it, or mentioned it."
