University of Tennessee officials estimate 5,000 students moved into university housing alone this weekend.

Students and their families have been a big boost for businesses near campus.

Copper Cellar on the Strip was full of families saying goodbyes over brunch to their new college students Sunday.

The restaurant welcomes the crowds after a slower summer.

They estimate a 30 percent increase in business when students return to town.

The restaurant geared up by hiring additional staff and advertising to students through social media.

"It's really the kick off to our season. We call it move in weekend and that's when things take off for us," said General Manager Jess Bersin.

Strip businesses say they are especially excited about football season which marks their busiest time of year.

Classes begin Wednesday for UT students.
