This week, state leaders will honor two East Tennessee teenagers and their friend who were all killed by a drunk driver.

The crash happened four years ago, in July of 2008 along Highway 305 in Athens.

17-year-old Racheal Slade and 16-year-old John Daugherty died. Their friend, Shane Standridge, survived but died this year from his injuries.

The state says it will announce details on an upcoming sobriety checkpoint in memory of the three young people. That announcement is set for Wednesday at the McMinn County Sheriff's Department.

The driver responsible for that crash has been convicted on charges and is serving time in prison.
