There will no longer be school resource officers at three schools in the city of Loudon.
They include Loudon High, Fort Loudon Middle and Loudon Elementary schools.
The city has been paying for two SROs at a cost of $150,000 a year. The city had asked the school board to help pay for the officers because of a budget pinch.
Following a city council meeting Monday night, the two officers will return to regular patrol shifts.
The city manager says over the next few weeks, city and school officials will work together to find an adequate replacement and transition the officers.
