UT students are getting settled in for a new semester, and Monday evening they got an up close look at their campus' biggest attraction.
As part of Welcome Week, UT allowed students to go inside Neyland Stadium and take a class photo. They also got a chance to hear from coaches and learn more about the university's traditions.
The new football season kicks off in less than two weeks, and Coach Derek Dooley wasted no time pumping up his key fans.
"The greatest game day atmosphere in college football is right here in Neyland Stadium and it's because of you, and I can tell you this: that our team has worked incredibly hard over the last eight months, but especially the last 20-30 days of training camp so that we can go out there and represent you the way you wanna get represented," Dooley said to the crowd.
Also Monday over at Thompson-Boling Arena, a tradition dating back to 1925 continued.
The Torch Night ceremony symbolically brings freshmen into the Vol family. It included a candle ceremony and tassle opening.
