Karibu Tena, Swahili for "Welcome Back," provides an opportunity University of Tennessee first year and returning students to participate in the Fall Open House for the Office of Minority Student Affairs.
This open house features a student organizational fair where students can learn about getting involved with MultiCultural student organizations, tours of the Black Cultural Center, live entertainment by students, and giveaways from community partners

Songwriters' Festival

The Smoky Mountains Songwriters Festival (SMSWF) is a Special Event of the City of Gatlinburg being held to "Celebrate Our Appalachian Musical Roots." World renown singer/songwriters will fill venues with ongoing performances in downtown Gatlinburg, August 23rd - August 25th. The public is invited to enjoy these great performances and most of the venues are free admission
Last but not least, Jimbo Whaley and the Greenbrier will be in concert at the Mills Auditorium 6 PM Sat. Aug. 25, 2012 being hosted by The Gatlinburg Garden Club and Mountain Rentals of Gatlinburg to benefit the Lucinda Oakley Ogle Log Cabin Restoration Fund.
